It’s 2am and I can’t sleep. I have a raging kidney infection, and I’m high on Percocet, so I write. Whenever I’m sick, I put on some fun earrings and jewelry over my pajamas. I’m watching The Summer I Turned Pretty and eating cheese. Today’s prompt couldn’t have come at a better time.

1. The doodles my mom makes when she’s on the phone
2. Pink walls and brass sconces with orange shades (my room)
3. A cast iron Dutch oven shaped like an artichoke
4. The kind of friendships that don’t require bras

6. When my sweet German dad says things like “scones” instead of sconces
7. Junk stores where you have to roll up your sleeves
8. Over exaggerating for the bit

11. Coming up with burlesque names when I can’t sleep
12. Color-filled homes with lots of family photos
13. The moment on a long trip when the plane/car door opens and the air hits you like a tramp at a dive bar. Your body instantly relaxes because it knows you’re home.
14. Diet Coke: a new favorite but highly important
