When Life Gives You Limoges

I may receive commission for purchases or clicks made through the links in this post. Xoxo, Lady Samantha

What is it about a small hand painted trinket box that makes me want to squeal with delight? They are completely useless in terms of functionality. Yet, I find myself delighted at a tiny, porcelain box that is transformed into a chili pepper. It’s frivolous, and I’m frothing at the mouth.

When I see a tchotchke, my German, minimalist genes are instantly overrode. Suddenly, I am an ally to hoarders everywhere. Come to think of it, I think they make some very valid points. Since I was a young thing, I was always drawn to beautiful things like metal to an MRI machine. My family has no idea where my appreciation of dust collectors comes from. They love to tease me by saying that I’m the lost Vanderbilt. All I have to say is, “Show me the receipts!”

As someone who has explored many crafts throughout my life, I understand the time, effort, and creativity involved in the birth of such “useless” things. Sometimes things are made simply to make you smile. It’s an item that’s both clever and beautiful. That’s why it exists. Heck, that’s basically the foundation of my entire blog!

These boxes are fine items and their prices reflect that. I often cannonball into hyper fixation rabbit holes. I feel invigorated by observing the creativity of others. If purchasing them isn’t on your radar, I do hope you take the time to scroll through, and allow yourself to feel inspired by them. We all could do with a lot more whimsy in our lives. What’s something small that brings you joy?

Until the next rabbit hole,

Lady Samantha
