It’s that time of year when the sun heats things up. You dust off last year’s summer clothes and say to yourself, “Ugh, I need some new clothes.” Thankfully, you are a woman with a closet of solid basics, but you do want to jazz things up a bit without taking out a second mortgage on your house. One of my very dear friends gave me one of the best compliments a girl like me can get, “You always find the best bags.” Did you hear that? That was my head getting stuck in the doorway. This latest drop from Target has surprised me. We’ve had a lot of one note monotony from the retail giant in the last few years. I am very selective about what I purchase. It has to be made well and it has to be something I can wear more than once. There are no one hit wonders in my wardrobe-there shouldn’t be any in yours either.

If you know me at all, you know I adore a novelty bag. It doesn’t really matter what kind of bag it is. People often say, “I love novelty bags but I have no idea where to begin.” A natural fiber bag is a great place to start. The texture is great and the colors go with anything. I would style it with a white top, jeans, and a comfy platform sandal.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the wearability of some of these bags. These bags harken to a personal favorite brand (ahem, The Jacksons) for catchy phrases on raffia bags. They also have a large amount of bag charms. While I love to adorn everything I own, I know it can be daunting to add extra personality to your bags. After all, you are an interesting person who can’t be contained! These bag charms are an easy way to practice. Plus, if you’re looking to grab a friend a little pick me up, a personal bag charm is a sweet way to say, “I’m thinking of you!”

A pop of red, a rich chocolatey brown, and a scalloped planter that can double as a wastebasket! I’m a certified platform (bah-dum-tis) sandal wearer and those woven memory foam slip-ons are perfect for summer. I love throwing together a quick outdoor meal with the people I love. I’ll take any excuse I can get to set a table and break out various vintage treasures. Having a glass drink dispenser that is just as functional as it is pretty is something every host should own.
