I recently had to explain the term “mansplain” to my dad. Now, don’t get your feathers all ruffled up. Not every man mansplains. Thankfully, I know many wonderful men who don’t do this at all. However, I think most people have experienced the dreaded mansplanation. I experience it almost monthly at various doctors appointments, but I recently experienced it at our local Toyota dealership.
I felt that the heating component in my heated seats were faulty. You can barely feel them to the point where I questioned if they were even on. I even had other people test my theory and they agreed. I just wanted them to check the system to see if the seats were heating properly. I politely explained the issue, and instead of listening to me, the manager decided to give me a lesson on weather. I kid you not, this is one of the sentences he said to me, “You know when the weather is hot, you aren’t going to feel the heated seats as much as you will when its cold outside.”
While in the moment, I pictured myself sweeping his legs like in the beloved 80’s film The Karate Kid. Instead, I chose to take the high road: I drove away while blasting “Just A Girl” by No Doubt. Seems fair.
Anyway, this picture is for those of you who have fallen victim to a man (or woman) talking to you like you’re new to this planet. Featuring my favorite Debbie Harry photo and one of my favorite affordable rugs.
